Action Day 2009: Climate Change

Hello everyone,

Action Day is a non-profit annual event done by Vision Club to trigger a discussion from a student perspective and raise awareness over a global issue.

Last year, we talked about the issue of Poverty, with the presence of Direct Aid NGO from Kuwait, and the UNDP in the UAE.

Action Day 2009: Climate Change

This 2009, Action Day is tackling the issue of Climate Change.

Climate Change affects everyone in the world, and is a very delicate issue; we have all the resources to stop it and stop the declination of the planet’s health yet we don’t know where to start. In Action Day 2009: Climate Change, we are showing what students can do to help save the planet.

Our event will host a presentation by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)  along witha presentation by Sharjah Environmental Company (Bee’ah).

Media campaign is huge for this event, as we are talking to dozens of TV channels and printed medias; Alarabiyya TV, Sharjah TV, Gulf News, Emarat Alyoum, Alkhaleej Arabic Newspaper are a few to mention.

University students play a huge role in our societies, we believe that youths can, and do have an impact on how things change or stay still. Climate Change can be ended in a lifetime if we wished that to happen, that’s why we are targeting students.

Event Information

Attendance:

Invitation is open to the public, especially the students of the University City in Sharjah.
Males and Females of all ages are invited and welcomed.
Shuttle Buses will be available for female students between the Student Center in the Women section and the M2 building. (Contact Sherif, see below).

Vision represents the University of Sharjah in TEDxDubai!

Hello all,

We are happy to announce that Vision Club in the University of Sharjah will be attending and representing the university in the invitation-only: TEDxDubai event.

TED is an annual event where some of the world’s leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. “TED” stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are, collectively, shaping our future. And in fact, the event is broader still, showcasing ideas that matter in any discipline.

TEDxDubai is an independently organized TED event with licence from the creators of TED back in the US, giving the chance for bright individuals to talk and share ideas that are worth spreading.

On October 10, we will be in the audience and will carry out the experience to you in a coming post with pictures and videos.
